Silk in Bloom

Nan Paper uses Japanese imported hand-dyed natural silk. After assembly the soft silk embossed petals emerge from the shiny, colorful flower core, and the light silky flower blooms in the fingertips. The silk is very fine and is used skillfully to recreate the delicate shape of the flower. The silky luster unique to the material gives the paper flowers a life-like agility which comes alive in different lighting. Silk has a noble texture and sheen and is favored by the royal aristocrats of both ancient and modern times. At the same time, it is extremely fragile and delicate, and the craftsman requires a high standard of skill and mastery. Elegant and delicate, just as a flower in nature, these shared qualities give silk flowers a unique beauty.
